Craig C. Smith - Real Estate Attorney

Craig founded his firm to serve lenders, financial institutions and individuals across the full spectrum of real estate law, from risk assessment and strategy to contract negotiations and closings for both transactional and contested matters.

He’s built a record as a skilled litigator, delivering positive legal results in hundreds of real estate matters. Craig’s areas of concentration include representing mortgage lenders, loan servicers and investors in contested matters, including consumer financial services litigation, commercial litigation and foreclosures. He’s successfully defended financial institutions against claims under state and federal consumer lending laws, as well as state and municipal code violations.

Craig has a proven record of negotiating contracts, settlement documents and closing instruments. He’s directed comprehensive title review and analysis, resolving liens, encumbrances and chain-of-title defects to achieve clean conveyance.

He was recently appointed Special Assistant Attorney General for the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, representing the state in handling land acquisition matters.

Craig earned his undergraduate degree from University of Illinois and his law degree from UIC John Marshall Law School. He’s licensed to practice in Illinois, the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals and all Illinois Federal District Courts. He’s a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and DuPage County Bar Association.
